Trick or Treat

In our new neighborhood, Halloween is super awesome. Almost every house is decorated with ghouls, spider webs and pumpkins. Adults dress up and stand outside on their stoops or sit on their porches giving out candy, pencils or pretzels. Kids, superheroes, fairies, and princesses everywhere. It was like a gigantic block party with a chocolate high. Charlie made it up and down the block, though it was the cats and costumes that kept his interest. He’d trick or treated at the Federal Building with his daycare and that evening in our neighborhood, he didn’t actually say trick or treat…until today.

We got a Halloween card from Nate and Heather, and once I told him what the dog on the front was saying, Charlie said, “Trick or treat. Trick or treat. Trick or treat.” I suppose October 31st to November 4th isn’t that long to learn a new word. Too bad he can’t use it again until next year!
